I just got back from the meeting with the Village Board. There were many good questions from the Board and we are thankful to the Trustees for their curiosity and desire to understand the proposal before making a decision. I felt there was a great sense of dialog. The meeting concluded with the announcement by the Mayor that the Board will consider the proposal and the additional information received and will get back to us (and the public) during one of the upcoming Board meetings.

The Irvington Village Board has offered us an opportunity to meet with them during their work session in order to discuss our proposal for allowing more than one organization recruit volunteers for the municipal fire department. The meeting is scheduled for Wed, Sep 19th. We are grateful to the Board for their willingness to engage in constructive dialog.

In his statements to Rivertowns Enterprise and News 12 Mayor Smith has indicated that our proposal will be weighed by the Board based on its merit. To help the Board, we have compiled a simple comparison matrix that outlines all the benefits that this proposal brings to the taxpayers, donors, Village Administration, Fire Department, Fire Chiefs and volunteers - all at zero cost to the Village.
